Pull it Together with Rugs
It is incredible how a floor rug can anchor a room, here are some top selections
It never gets old. When a new floor rug goes down, the client and I are smiling from ear to ear. It is so transformative. I sometimes forget how the perfect rug really makes a room sing. I mean, sometimes I nearly cry, it’s THAT good. Here is a safe space here to admit that here, right?
A reminder that the Style Studies course is closing soon. It’s going to help you choose colours, understand why your space is - or isn’t - working. Basically this online course is designed for you to take bite-sized chunks to learn about how to design your home or renovation so that you will absolutely LOVE it.

I have a few top suppliers that I always look to for my client projects. Not only is the selection always sublime, the service is friendly and knowledgeable. I only work with nice people!
In no particular order:
LOOM
Loom - Doan has a chic, playful selection with some amazing Moroccan style rugs. I also love the ‘So Zeki!’ collection of unique designs by Zeki Muren and inspired by his paintings and drawings around the 1960s. Located on High Steet Prahran.
Emerald Collection Floor Rug from Loom.
Need this rug! From Loom.

HALCYON LAKE
Halcyon Lake - David and his team have a collection of vintage rugs as well as a favorite: the sublime handknotted Tibetan highland wool and silk rugs designed by Reuber Henning. They also do wall-to-wall carpets and my favorite is a cotton pile from The Netherlands, the colours are gorgeous sherbet tones. Located in Richmond, Melbourne but supply everywhere.
Moroccan Atlas rug from Halcyon Lake - obsessed with the colours and bold pattern.

DOUBLE
Finally, a rug that is washable and VERY affordable. I have seen these rugs in person and they are really clever. We had a few in our home for a story for The Design Files and I still get asked about them.
You want to know:
are they really washable? YES! There is a top layer that is quite thin that can fit inside a regular washing machine.
do the layers move? No, I found them to be very grippy.
what is a downside? The ones that I had have a printed design which means that the fibers aren’t woven like ruf with a pile height. It felt more like a chenille fabric. The bottom layer is quite squishy but obviously, not as plush as a Moroccan shaggy rug.
And they are having one of those Black Friday sales right now.
I’m impressed with these new designs in collaboration with McMullin. This is the Awa Taupe New Zealand Washable Wool Rug By Double.
This graphic patterned rug adds a dynamic element that really lifts a room. From Double.
CADRYS
Cadrys - Bob knows rugs! Cadrys have a wide range of styles. The vintage pieces and contemporary plus you can custom your own. I remember talking to Bob about the story of the rugs and how he sourced them from a mountain top in Morocco. Love those pieces that carry so much meaning. Melbourne and Sydney and all around.
Vintage Persian Rug from Cadrys
Persian Mazandara by Cadrys.
JENNY JONES
Jenny Jones - These are so uniquely Australian and have yet won prestigeous international design awards. I especially love the Australian botanical designs, each one tells a story and the colour combinations are sublime, I especially love the ones with yellow and chartreuse right now. The pile heights, silk and wool provide a textural feast for the floor. I also love supporting female designers and business owners which is rare still unfortunately. Based in Perth with stores across Australia.
Australian Wattle rug by Jenny Jones
Everlasting rug from Jenny Jones I just love that chartreuse colour, it’s so unexpected and sophisticated.
There are too many to mention here, but I also love:
Tigmi - vintage furniture and lighting plus rugs to DIE FOR!
Hali - a wide variety of styles.
Armadillo - simple yet timelessly elegant.
Mobilia - characterful contemporary designs by CC Tapis.
