In the winter months I just want to curl up on the sofa with some snacks and a throw blanket and immerse myself in a brilliant film or tv series. The fire is lit and the hot chocolate is hot. I really feel my Nordic roots in the winter months when I am just fine with the rainy cool weather, actually I love it!

Give me the scented candles, woolly socks (sexy!), baked goods and let me stay INSIDE! My home-body status has been elevated since we moved into our mid-century home.

It really helps to create a comfortable space at home to survive those cooler months and modular sofas can’t be beat (ok, I will admit that recliners are the most comfortable things for the body, however for the eye they are VERY uncomfortable).

So here is a round-up of some outstanding modular sofas.

The Tufty Time sofa by B&B Italia is low and loungey and just made for sophisticated sprawling. Osmose Living

Tufty Time

  1. This sofa was released in 2005 at a time when most sofas were sleek and floating on fine steel legs. Patricia Urquiola designed this modular system as a throw-back to a freer time, the 1970s when we really knew how to relax!

This sofa has endured for almost 20 years and can take on a different personality depending of the fabric or leather selection. The armrest can be in line with the backrest or lower and chaise pieces can be added for flexibility.

Extrasoft

2. This sofa gives the perfect balance of structure and softness. The boxy shape isn’t tightly upholstered, rather it has a soft pillowy upholstery feel. I just love it.

It was designed in 2008 by Piero Lissoni, it can be arranged in many configurations, even back-to-back.

If you like this one too, but the ‘made in Italy’ price tag is a little, shall we say aspirational, I noticed that Castlery have a similar design.
